Feeding is an infant’s very first motor milestone. When tightness or asymmetries are present, the infant may have a more challenging time with effective feeding.

A physiotherapist will assess your infant’s latch, tongue mobility (to rule out tongue tie), and general motor development.

Bodywork physical therapy refers to a range of gentle techniques pediatric physiotherapists use to help babies release tension, improve mobility, and promote better function. These techniques include soft tissue massage, gentle stretching, and manual therapy.

Our clinic is well-equipped to provide infant bodywork and infant feeding techniques that will promote relaxation and calmness for both mom and baby!

Yes, we do! Infant feeding can be treated by physiotherapists, as well as many other conditions that fall under infant physiotherapy.

DMI is an intervention that incorporates current research on neurorehabilitation, technologies, and methodologies.  This therapeutic technique is used by physical and occupational therapists to treat children with gross motor impairments by improving and/or provoking a desired action with great emphasis on alignment, sensory integration, and function.  The goal is to promote progress toward developmental milestones.

After a brief assessment, the therapist will identify areas of potential growth, which will guide treatment to encourage movements in a more typical pattern.

Exercises are repeated until these movements become automatic, which results in improved balance and function. This involves:

  • movement against gravity
  • progressively more challenging support
  • provocation of desired movements
  • postural and strength challenges

Yes! We direct bill to most major insurance providers, including Manitoba Blue Cross, Sunlife, Manulife and Canada Life.

No, it is not needed. However, some extended benefit plans do need a doctor’s referral, so ensure to check with your provider for a better understanding.

Paediatric physiotherapists use age-appropriate exercises for pelvic floor physiotherapy to enhance a child’s pelvic control, none of which are internal.

Paediatric pelvic floor exercises often involve gentle muscle contractions and relaxation techniques to improve coordination, balance, and strength in the pelvic region.

If you’re looking for a pelvic floor physiotherapist near you, you found it! Click here to book an assessment!

Pelvic floor dysfunction in children may include bedwetting, daytime urinary leakage, constipation, abdominal pain, recurrent urinary tract infections, and difficulty controlling bowel movements.
